THE PRESIDENT OF THE ITALIAN REPUBLIC PRESENT THE GUSTAV MAHLER ACADEMY 2010 WITH AN AWARD.

For this 12th edition, once again the President of the Italian Republic presented the Gustav Mahler Academy with an award. This award comes at the end of an itinerary that began in 2008, the year in which the Head of State formally acknowledged the tenth edition of the courses by sending his message of appreciation and of good luck. In 2009, the President of the Republic awarded a silver plaque for the courses’ 11th edition and finally, in 2010 he awarded the institution with two medals forged at the State mint. In agreement with the Italian Republic’s Presidency, one medal will be donated by the Mahler foundation to a pupil who marked the history of the Academy, and so in 2010 this prize will go to the solo violoncellist Solène Kermarrec. Since her attendance at the Mahler Academy, in 2004 and 2005, the young musician quickly became a star with a brilliant career before her, considering that today she is in the group of violoncellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker, which she joined at the very young age of 23 after winning many prizes in international competitions.

Andrea LiponiThe closing concert of the Gustav Mahler Academy, to be held on 23 October 2009 at the Bolzano Auditorium, is dedicated to Andrea Liponi, with the hope that yet another musical message offered by young musicians of the same age as Andrea may help keep up public attention in the case. Andrea Liponi is a 23-year old from Bolzano, a student of linguistic mediation at the University of Trento, proficient in both German and English. He left everything and disappeared on 8 June 2008, at Sirmiano (Nalles, a village near Bolzano). In the two days after his disappearance he was seen by several people who knew him. The appeal to whoever meets him is to help him return to his family, who loves him enormously!

A silver plaque presented by the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, to the Gustav Mahler Academy.
The 2008 edition of the master class was held by the Gustav Mahler Academy with the "support of the President of the Republic". This year, the 11th Edition of the courses - from 4th to 24th October 2009 - has received a prestigious award: the President, in fact, has sent a silver plaque "to honour the music teaching programme implemented by the Academy in 2009", in acknowledgement of the high quality of its teaching and training activities.
The eleventh edition of the music master class will once again bring together, in Bolzano, several among the top music teachers in Italy and Europe, who will lecture about fifty young classical music talents.
